In September 2008, in a muddy camp-site, without knowing it, curious directive began their first devised process together.

Since that moment in the middle of a muddy field curious directive has evolved into a vibrant and dynamic theatre company. Working out of Norwich we have won four awards at NSDF’09, a Fringe First in 2011 as well as the short-list for Sky Arts Futures Fund, Carol Tambor Award and the Oxford Samuel Beckett Award in 2012-13.

We have partnered nationally with over forty prestigious theatres (Lyric Hammersmith, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Drum Plymouth), numerous international festivals (LIFT, Bunker, Domino), and collaborated with world-leading science institutions and charities (Wellcome Trust, STFC and the London Science Museum).

We have transformed cupboards, corridors and mid-scale theatres into pieces exploring cognitive neuroscience, light, marine biology, zoology, genetics, motion and bio-politics.

We continue to work locally with audiences, theatres and artists as a leading emerging theatre company from the East.
